Gone/Going...but hopefully not forgotten!
I thought I should probably post something before I disappear for 3 weeks.
I had a little trouble thinking of what to post, and remembered that I had uploaded some photos from a couple of weeks ago and had never posted them. I have a few more on disc, but I never got round to putting them on my computer, and I left the disc at home. A lot of excuses I know, but thats life!
Hopefully Pete will post something up here at least ONCE while I'm gone. Maybe he can post about what we did instead of the CASINO night - yes, we did not go ahead with it.
Anywho...enjoy the following pics and hope you all have a great few weeks reading whatever Pete puts up here...remember nothing dodgy!! - you have a high standard to maintain ;)
Will catch you all when I get back. Tanned, sun lightened hair, and hopefully without some strange bug!
Attempt 3...here I look like Im picking my nose
I think I was just using my arms for a bit of help

Me: *Stares and shakes head at passing car*
Russ: "Do you have to do that every time?"
Me: "Do what?" (trying to play innocent - I know he doesn't like me doing it)
Russ: "Road rage is on the up, it's all over t.v. and you are just provoking it"
Me: "I didn't do anything!"
Russ: "You shook your head at that driver"
Me: "I didn't! I was just looking to see who was driving"
Russ: "And you shook your head"
Me: "There was a breeze in the car"
Russ: *Gives me that look*
Me: "I was just wafting my hair in it!"
Russ: "mmm right"

Seriously...I went to this last year and it was fantastic! We even ended up getting a daughter ;)
If you have any questions, let me know...
And...spread the word!!
Not so green thumb
Russ and I are starting to get excited about what we can do with the house we just bought.
I love gardening and even though I am not very good at it, I still give it my best shot. Now because we have our own place, the garden is mine for the taking!
I have big plans for a veggie patch that will include all the veggies we eat plus fruit. (the house already has about 4-5 orange trees) and I also plan to have some chooks.
I have been reading up on this website and am just itching to get into my garden.
Just wondering...does anyone have chooks or grown up with chooks in the backyard. If so, what do I need to do!?! We have no idea!!

Enough Rope and not enough sleep...
Last night I stayed up way past my bedtime and watched Enough Rope by Andrew Denton.
His first Interview was with Tania Major who is the current Young Australian of the Year.
She...had...me...glued...
Here is the interview if you want to watch/read it.
I grew up in Cairns (I completely understand the whole no wearing shoes to school) where the Aboriginal/Islander kids out numbered the white kids and then moved to WA where I did not school with ONE indiginous kid. I have been to Port Hedland on mission trips and worked in a couple of communities.
This young woman was so passionate about bringing change that it was so contagious. She got me all passionate!
The question I was left with was, What can I do? What are we as 'the church' doing about this major crisis in our country.
Here is one interesting fact that they mentioned last night that I will leave you with:
"Before the ‘67 referendum, Aboriginal people were classified as Fauna under the Act."
WHAT will you do?

Guest 'Speaker'
Speaking of which...
I have invited Dodgy Pete to look after my blog while I am away. He asked what guidelines there are, and I said there are none...so look out ya'll!
Pete is what I call a 'cool christian'. He is prepared to ask the tough questions and wrestle with theology and mind sets. He doesnt live by certain guidelines that traditionalists hold to and he can be quite confronting and challenging.
I bet he will get you all going, start his own blog and steal all my readers!! But, its a risk I am willing to take ;)
I dont know when his first post will be or what it will be about, but this blog is his property starting the 1st of September.
Please make Pete feel welcome and challenge him back...I'm sure he will love it!
Mind Space
All I can think of at the moment is our trip!!
On Sunday at approx 4.50pm we will be heading off to Thailand for 10 days and then onto Qld for another 10 days with some friends.
We have never been out of Australia and it is going to be somewhat of an adventure.
When we arrive in Bangkok...we have to figure out a way to get to Chiang Rai which is way up north near Burma (scary!!). We will hopefully hop onto a domestic flight, but we may be having a few hours nap at the airport! We also haven't had any vaccinations! We decided that we would risk it and see how we go. I know it may not have been the smartest thing, but we are going on well advised people (hopefully) who have survived and just been smart and they have come back ok - we are taking Malaria pills though. So all of you, start praying that we will not get Typhoid or something dangerous while we are there.
I have a little list of the different things I/we want to do while we are there. On the top of my list is Elephant riding. Next is hiking through the mountains in Chiang Rai (roughly 1400km high) and also taking a boat ride in the Kok river and drinking snake shots or something.
I am so excited and I think this week at work will be the longest of my life!
When we get back from our holiday we will be moving into our new house. On the weekend Middo will be coming round to help with the garden and hopefully our retic will survive! We will definately take lots of before and after shots for that too!
Here's the deal. I leave Qld on the 22nd of September and head home on my own. I will then spend the week packing and cleaning. Russell comes home from Qld on the 29th at 12.00am and I then leave on the 29th at 12.30am to head off to Sydney for work. Our house settlement is on the 2nd of October and I get home on the 3rd. We then will spend the rest of the week cleaning and moving, and then garden refurbishing!
Before we head off on Sunday (2nd Sept) we will be doing a house inspection organising for a rent inspection and trying to sign off all of our mortgage documents.
So, as you can see...it is going to be a busy couple of months.
I wouldnt trade any of this for the world though :)
Now...what to do with my blog while I'm away ;)

*A Little Religious Fervor*
A Priest, a Pentecostal preacher and a Rabbi all served as chaplains to the students of Northern Michigan University in Marquette. They would get together two or three times a week for coffee and to talk shop.
One day, someone made the comment that preaching to people isn't really all that hard. A real challenge would be to preach to a bear. One thing led to another, and they decided to do an experiment. They would all go out into the woods, find a bear, preach to it, and attempt to convert it.
Seven days later, they all came together to discuss their experience.
Father Flannery, who had his arm in a sling, was on crutches, and had various bandages on his body and limbs, spoke first. "Well," he said, "I went into the woods to find me a bear. And when I found him, I began to read to him from the Catechism. Well, that bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap me around. So I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him and, Holy Mary, Mother of God, he became as gentle as a lamb. The bishop is coming out next week to give him first communion and confirmation."
Reverend Billy Bob spoke next. He was in a wheelchair, had one arm and both legs in casts, and had an IV drip. In his best fire-and-brimstone oratory, he claimed, "WELL, brothers, you KNOW that we don't sprinkle! I went out and I FOUND me a bear. And then I began to read to my bear from God's HOLY WORD! But that bear wanted nothing to do with me. So I took
HOLD of him and we began to wrestle. We wrestled down one hill, UP another and DOWN another until we came to a creek. So I quickly DUNKED him and BAPTIZED his hairy soul. And just like you said, he became as gentle as a lamb. We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus."*
The priest and the reverend both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed. He was in a body cast and traction with IVs and monitors running in and out of him. He was in really bad shape. The Rabbi looked up and said, "Looking back on it, circumcision may not have been the best way to start."

Vanity Fair’s provocative cover shot of the naked and hugely pregnant Demi Moore (also shot by Annie Leibovitz) projected the actress to even greater heights after the huge success of the movie Ghost the previous year. The cover helped firmly establish Moore as a member of Hollywood’s A-List at the time.

"God is Not Great"
This book caught my eye as I rushed through ‘Borders’ this afternoon on my way back from picking my new glasses (yes I am getting some reading glasses! I tell you my body is falling apart and I’m only 23!!).
I was hurrying through and the title really caught my eye.
Has anyone read this and is it even worth looking at?
I don’t want to spend x amount of dollars on a book that is just quite simply useless.
